13 & God

Like 13ghosts, this project between Bavarian The Notwist and American hip-hoppers Themselves is a very subtle and quiet one, however, it demands just a little bit more attention. The sound effects as well as the rapping randomly ask for listening, and it’s rewarding.

This is one of those (hard-) rock bands which I found interesting enough in my 20s. My music taste has developed in a different direction, but I couldn’t yet hit the delete button because somehow, the songs are crafted enough and despite the fact that I just found out it’s christian rock.

Maybe hit delete after all …

The 101

For me, music of this band perfectly fits as background for doing stuff at home despite the fact that it’s really more on the punky side. Not too demanding nor aggressive, but driving and melodious nevertheless.

Cherry Ghost

Unbelievably good music. The voice makes me relax and feel safe, the music is perfect for an epic couch experience. Just turn it up loud, and you’ll be gone for a while.

Strings attached, the sounds could be described as piano indie rock, but then again, there’s also a good portion of singer-songwriter to it because the lyrics are quite interesting as well.

Caution: Might make you want to stay where it’s taken you.

Mr. Flash – Blood, Sweat & Tears EP (2010)

It just had to be in the middle of the night, after coming home from a decent dinner with a friend, that I stumbled upon this one. And it was because I was looking for some good old music, too.

The EP going by the same name as the band, Blood, Sweat & Tears, that I was initially looking for, emerged from french Ed Banger label. Something completely different. But, nonetheless, it had me dance into bed rather than fall asleep too quickly.

Fishboy – Classic Creeps (2011)

This is Adam Green, only more enthusiastic, a little faster and generally more … interesting. At least as funny and meaningful, but much more something to dance and listen to at the same time.

Remy Zero

Long time no hear no news, but lately, I suddenly stumbled upon a „new“ 2010 EP by Remy Zero. I instantly remembered that I had some intense listening moments with this band.

Keeping the good old alternative rock tradition, they have a thumping sound to them.

Sadly, the drummer passed away in 2010, and, as a result, the band has ceased to exist.
